Your First Visit to Troutman Smiles
What to Expect at Troutman Smiles
Your first appointment at Troutman Smiles is designed to be thorough, unhurried, and pressure-free. Whether you are coming in for routine care, a specific concern, or a second opinion, Dr. Jeffrey Urban and Dr. Marina Urban will take time to fully evaluate your smile, explain your options clearly, and make sure you leave with a plan you understand and feel confident in.
Before Your Appointment
To make the most of your visit, bring a valid photo ID, your dental insurance card, and a list of any current medications. If you have recent X-rays from a previous dentist, ask that they be sent to our office in advance or bring a copy with you. Arriving a few minutes early gives you time to complete any remaining paperwork before your scheduled appointment.
Your Examination and Imaging
Dr. Urban will begin with a comprehensive clinical examination of your teeth, gums, and surrounding tissues. In most cases, digital X-rays or a cone beam CT scan will be taken to give your doctor a detailed, three-dimensional view of your tooth structure and bone. This imaging is essential for accurate diagnosis and precise treatment planning, and it is completed right here in our Troutman office.
Diagnosis and Treatment Planning
Once the examination and imaging are complete, your doctor will walk you through exactly what is happening with your smile, what your treatment options are, and what each one involves. Questions are encouraged and answered honestly. You will leave your consultation with a clear understanding of what comes next and what to expect at each step, with no decisions rushed.
Your Treatment Visit
In many cases, treatment can begin at the same appointment as your evaluation. If your situation calls for a separate visit, that will be scheduled before you leave. Dr. Urban will make sure you are comfortable throughout, and Adult Oral Sedation is available for patients who prefer additional relaxation during care.
After Your Visit
Before you leave, your care team will provide any post-appointment instructions and answer remaining questions. A summary of your treatment will be sent to your referring dentist if applicable. Our team is reachable by phone if any concerns come up during your recovery or between visits.
