Troutman Smiles was founded by Dr. Jeffrey and Dr. Marina Urban to give Troutman, Mooresville, and the Lake Norman community a different kind of dental experience, one where small-town warmth and cutting-edge technology care for your family side by side.
Meet Dr. Jeffrey Urban
Dr. Jeffrey Urban opened Troutman Smiles with his wife, Dr. Marina, to build the kind of practice where patients are treated like neighbors, because here, they are. In private practice since 2010, he provides patient-centered care for all ages and genuinely enjoys meeting the diverse needs of families throughout the Troutman community.
A graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), Dr. Urban completed a General Practice Residency at Morristown Medical Center. He is among the approximately 3% of dentists nationwide to earn Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry, a distinction reserved for dentists who demonstrate extensive clinical knowledge and a deep commitment to continuing education. As an alumnus of Implant Pathway, he has advanced expertise in dental implant placement and complex oral surgery, and he is certified to provide Adult Oral Sedation.
Dr. Urban lives in Mooresville with Dr. Marina, their son Mikhail, and their dog, Cody. Outside the office, you will usually find him outdoors with his family.
Meet Dr. Marina Urban
Dr. Marina Urban became a dentist because of her own positive experiences in the dental chair, and she has spent her career creating that same feeling for her patients. Detail-oriented and genuinely caring, she believes great dentistry starts with relationships rooted in trust, education, and clinical excellence, which is exactly the philosophy she and Dr. Jeffrey built Troutman Smiles around.
Dr. Urban earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. With more than a decade of experience spanning private practice, community health centers, and the VA Healthcare System, she has developed strong expertise in comprehensive general dentistry, including implant restorations, cosmetic dentistry, complex treatment planning, and full-mouth rehabilitation. She pairs modern technology with evidence-based techniques to deliver care tailored to each patient.
Fluent in Russian, Dr. Urban is proud to serve a diverse patient community. She and Dr. Jeffrey live locally with their son, Mikhail, and love spending time outdoors as a family.
